Some of the world’s most beautiful islands are also the greatest volunteering locations. If you choose service as a way to refocus your mind onto something larger than yourself, you can take a break in one of our partner communities and make a world of difference. Our service programs engage you in genuine development projects and enable you to experience authentic local culture in captivating destinations.

Service Programs are good for helping others and reviving your spirit.  Join us, and truly make a difference.

You don’t have to sacrifice your vacation to enjoy the best of island culture. You can combine meaningful service with a true island escape! Our full-day assignments place you in the midst of community projects and enable you to engage with teachers, parents, community leaders, and others who help children thrive. Experience daily life with the people who live it! At the end of every workday, and on weekends, you and your teammates have time to explore cultural, historical, and natural attractions throughout the island.  Family volunteers:  See minimum age requirements here.

Some volunteers help improve students’ educational and recreational spaces. You can gain new skills and work in a casual, picturesque setting.

Cook Islands: Do good in the South Pacific

The original Cook Islanders were a hearty and self-reliant Maori people, who traveled the seas to settle distant volcanic islands – and created a distinct, colorful culture reflecting the natural beauty of their homeland. But by the 1980s, the Cook Islands’ vitality was challenged by economic pressures – which drove the country’s youth abroad. Our work focuses on the very foundation of Cook Islands society – children –  ensuring they have the sustained support and opportunities to keep them on the island when they mature. You can contribute in many ways:  Tutor students in math and literacy, stimulate and encourage toddlers, and help paint and repair schools  – all while serving in one of the most beautiful destinations on Earth!

Teaching English to bright and motivated Cuban children is fun and rewarding. Learn about Cuban culture, family life, and community events through the eyes of students.

Cuba: Do good in Latin America

The iconic scenes of Havana and colonial rural towns – colorful salsa dancers, classic American automobiles, the architecture of the Spanish and Moors, and the famed seaside Malecon distinguish the island of Cuba in history.  The country’s future, however, is in the hands and minds of Cuban youth – their hopes, goals, and skills.  By practicing English conversation with young students, and exposing them to cultures and lifestyles outside Cuba’s shores, you invest in their understanding of the world. At the same time, you can help repair community buildings, support, and nurture elders, assist local people in community gardens and appreciate the sights, sounds, and flavors of this intriguing island nation from a “non-tourist” perspective.

Unleash your “inner teacher” with English lessons for primary school students. No experience necessary!

Crete: Do good in the Aegean

The craggy and romantic shoreline and olive groves attract throngs of tourists to this Mediterranean jewel. But, to gain a true understanding of the culture, work in bright and airy classrooms with children whose families have not fared well in over a decade of economic decline. Helping primary school students improve their English language skills. and work with adults on resume writing and job interview skills. Create English lessons using our English Teaching Guide, games, music, and your own creativity. Provide one-on-one attention to eager students in small groups. Help prepare the nation’s future leaders in a pocket of pure beauty!

Teach young Sicilian students the international language of commerce, technology and opportunity!

Sicily: Do good in the Mediterranean

Millions of people travel to Sicily every year seeking the ultimate travel experience. Unparalleled in its rich culture, Sicily is one of the largest and most densely populated islands in the Mediterranean Sea, offering delights ranging from fine wines and exceptional cuisine to high art and significant historical sites. Our partners in Sicily invite you to assist in teaching conversational English, the international language of commerce, technology, and opportunity. Local leaders believe that learning English is necessary for their children’s and young adults’ future success in a globalized world and an increasingly integrated Europe.

Teach children and mothers how to plant and care for container gardens.

St. Lucia: Do good in the Caribbean

An iconic sailing and honeymoon destination, St. Lucia in the West Indies projects a carefree and unspoiled image. But, outside the tourist areas, many children and families live in abject poverty. Supporting competency from within, we work with schools and community organizations in Anse la Raye on projects to enhance children’s growth and development. You can tutor and teach students of all ages in sunny classrooms, help mothers establish household gardens, teach young women how to sew and help and improve community buildings. You’ll discover that while you’re surrounded by the most captivating scenery in the Caribbean, the most beautiful visions are the smiling faces of St. Lucian children!

Help children improve their English language skills.

Puerto Rico: Do good in the USA

Puerto Rico, a picturesque island and a commonwealth of the United States, attracts many American tourists in search of beach vacations infused with a Latin flavor. However, amidst the beachside resorts, there lies a community in need of assistance. There are students eager to improve their English skills, orphaned and vulnerable children requiring psycho-social support, and community buildings in need of care. By offering your hands and heart, you can make a meaningful impact and create lasting connections with the people of Puerto Rico in just one or two weeks.
